FAQs

At Your Campsite

What is there to do if it rains during our stay with you?

You are in luck! We offer many activities, events, crafts, games and other fun no matter what the weather is like. If an event was planned to be outdoors, our fun hut may accommodate you instead. Check with office for availability. In addition, we are nearby so many great places to see and things to do! For example, the Museum of the Earth, Cayuga Nature Center, Sciencenter, shopping malls, restaurants, and of course the wine trails around the Finger Lakes. Ask a staff member in the office for information on local amenities and attractions.

How far is Watkins Glen from your campground?

It's a easy drive about 25-30 minutes! In Watkins Glen, you can find the NASCAR track, Seneca Lake, Watkins Glen State Park, gorges and more. Our receptionists in the office can provide you with driving directions.

Can we bring our own firewood?

You are encouraged to buy firewood where you intend to burn it. We sell bundles of seasoned firewood at our camp store. We are doing our part to help prevent the possible spreading and damage that can be done by the Emerald Ash Borer. As per NYS DEC, if you transport firewood, it must be purchased within a 50 mile radius and have a certificate of origin accompanying it or be kiln dried. Burn it where you buy it!

Does your pool have a lifeguard?

Our pool is a "swim at your own risk" pool. There is no lifeguard on duty. Children under 16 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian when inside the pool idea.

What are your pool hours?

Our pool opens the Friday of Memorial Day weekend and is open (weather permitting) daily from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. until Labor Day.

Can we build a campfire?

Yes. There is a pit at each campsite for campfires.

How far are you from Cornell University or Ithaca College?

We are approximately 15 minutes from both colleges depending on traffic in downtown Ithaca.

Camping Rules and Policies

Can we bring our bicycles?

Yes, our campground is bike-friendly. We are about two miles from Taughannock State Park, which guests like to ride their bike to. Kids ages 13 and under must wear a helmet while riding their bikes - no exceptions. Bike riders must be back to their site by dark.

Do you recycle?

Yes. Recycling is New York state law. We kindly ask that you please clean up after yourselves by recycling all bottles and cans, plastics, newspapers, etc. into a clear bag at the roadside in front of your site, in addition to a separate bag of garbage by 5 p.m. (last pickup time).

Please do not leave any garbage or recyclables out after this time as wildlife critters will get to it before we do. If you do have a late dinner, please keep all garbage until the following morning.

Do you have quiet hours in the evening?

Yes, we enforce strict quiet hours so everyone has a peaceful vacation. Quiet hours begin at 11 p.m.

Can I bring our golf cart to use while we stay at your campground?

No. The golf carts you see being used here are either our seasonal campers or our employees. At this time, due to insurance reasons, we are not permitted to allow transit guests to bring their own golf carts. We also at this time do not rent out golf carts.

Do you have a gate that closes at night?

We do not have a gate. However, we ask that all guests coming and going during quiet hours please respect their neighbors and others as they come and go.

Do you allow guests on site?

Yes, but all guests must register with the office - no exceptions. Please see our service rates page for any questions regarding hosting extra guests that will be staying at your site.

Do you allow dogs?

Yes, however, dogs must remain on your campsite and/or walked only in designated areas. Please refer to our camp map for dog walking areas. All dogs can be walked from your site to the designated areas. You must bring proof of current rabies vaccinations for all pets and you will be asked to present them upon check in. Guests of our campers are asked to please leave their pets at home.

Reservations

We do allow you to put up a small tent for children only. If you are camping with more than one family, it will be considered an extra "camping unit" and you will be charged as so.

Are reservations required?

Our campsites fill up fast throughout the camping season, especially near the holidays so it is advised that you call or reserve your campsite online beforehand to ensure availability.

Is a deposit required?

A one night non-refundable deposit is required. No refunds for early departure or the discomforts of nature, such as rain. Holiday deposits are the full holiday rate and are non-refundable. You can cancel your reservation, but we do not make refunds on the deposits.

What is your cancellation policy?

We take a one night non-refundable deposit for all regular season reservations. For holiday and special event weekends, we take the full amount as a non-refundable deposit. We do not refund money for early departures or the discomforts of nature.

Can you compare your campground to the state parks that surround you?

We feel that camping at a privately owned campground, such as ours, is a completely different experience than camping at a state-run facility. Our campground is large and is very family-oriented. The host family and the other employees of Spruce Row like to get to know their customers and their families personally. Our campground offers an array of activities, events and games for people of all ages. We offer a camping store with toys, RV supplies, ice cream, food items, candy and more. We try to make sure all of our guests have a comfortable and enjoyable stay with us.

Why are you advertised through AAA but you do not accept the discount?

AAA, in addition to a variety of services, is also a travel agency. They offer advertising to specific areas and have to list all campgrounds, hotels, B & B's, motels etc., and our name is listed for the Ithaca area. The membership for the AAA discount is a completely different part of their company, which we are not a member of.

Do you offer any discounts?

We apologize but we do not offer discounts for AAA, CAA, AARP, senior citizens or students. However, we are proud to offer numerous great discounts throughout each season. They may vary from year to year, but will always be listed on our website, rates brochure and Facebook page. You can always call to inquire about any discounts that may be going on. Some discounts we offer include Early Bird Special, Fall Wind Up, Armed Forces Discount (select time periods), First Responder Discount, Law Enforcement Discount (select time periods) and Teacher Discount (select time period).
